How can you write an enterprise application without at database? You can’t, of course. Or at least, you couldn’t. Nowadays with the various No-SQL-type data stores, you probably could, but would you really trust it?

Anyway, I’ve been working with databases in various forms throughout my career. Starting with DB2 for the iSeries, and moving on to Misys’s Payment Manager, which supported that and DB2 LUW, as well as Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server.

I know my my way around some of the quirks and the differences of them all, and can query with the best of them. I’m not a DBA, but I can do some of the things they do.

And I’m a dab hand at managing schemas with Liquibase.
